Contracted on behalf of the World Association of Left-Handed Golfers, TDM Events was responsible for the event coordination and the provision of sponsorship, logistics, marketing and administration services for the 18th World Left-Handed Golf Tournament, held in Queenstown.
An initiative of the World Association of Left-Handed Golfers in conjunction with the National Association of Left-Handed Golfers (the New Zealand arm), the amateur event was restricted to only those who play left-handed. With divisions including open, seniors (55+), super seniors (70+) and ladies, the objective of the tournament was to promote, encourage and foster the game of golf and in particular left-handed golf throughout the world.
The event is held in a different country each year, with the inaugural competition hosted by Australia in 1979. It was the third time that New Zealand hosted the event having held previous tournaments in Christchurch and Taupo.
The 2008 event attracted 300 participants from around the world including players from Scotland, Japan, Taiwan, Finland, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Switzerland and South Africa as well as over 150 spouses/partners.
The 18th World Left-Handed Golf Tournament was held across four courses in the Southern Lakes region of New Zealand. The courses included Millbrook Resort, Kelvin Heights, Arrowtown and Jacks Point.
